After Waterton we had a couple days before we all left, so we went to Heritage Park! (A historical park.) Ohh the memories I have there. I loved getting to see Hunter enjoying some of the same things from when I was a kid.
The boat swings and old rides were a hit with all the kiddos!
We had to get some old fashioned gingerbread men from the bakery. The best ever.
We visited the old school house. My mom was showing us "her seat" that she always sat in when she went to a school just like this when she was a kid. She's in the back right desk in the photo.
The kids all had a blast writing/drawing on the chalkboards.
On the blackboard in front it is written that pony tail dippers will be punished. TJ was pretty confused by this statement, so we were showing him how the boys that sat behind girls with pony tails would take their hair and dip it in the ink on their desk!
To end the day we went on the big steam train that goes around the park. It was perfect because it started raining pretty hard!
And then we all left the next day to go back to the States. Until next time, Canada!

Waterton - August 2014
Waterton with my entire family was a dream! We had great weather (hardly any wind - amazing!), packed every day with beautiful nature, and tons of fun. The only thing that wasn't perfect was that TJ missed the first few days.
We had to stop at 7-11 in Claresholm on the way down to get Canadian slurpees. Tradition.
As soon as we had checked into our hotel we went over to the lake for our favorite pastime in Waterton - throwing rocks!
Here are lots of pictures of our trip in Waterton. Things we did included:
Hiking Bears Hump. These kiddos all picked out walking/hiking sticks to help them.
Conquering Bears Hump with this kid on my back was no small feat.
Traditional chocolate bar at the top
Hunter is obsessed with the chipmunks , "mee-monks" as he calls them, on top of Bears Hump. He still talks about them.
Zonked out on the way down and even back at the hotel he didn't wake up when I took him out.
Weiner roast at Pass Creek! We had a little bit of rain (that's what the plate is for on my mom's head), but for the most part it was pretty nice.
There were some awesome thunderstorms on Sunday. Hunter loved watching/listening from the door and running back and forth to tell us there was a "big boom" and lightning "eeee-eeen!"
Throwing rocks at the base of the Prince of Wales. We like wearing Canada hoodies :)
Shoulder rides with Mommy. I sure love this boy.
TJ arrived Monday morning in Waterton and was with us for the rest of time!! He flew in to Calgary on Sunday from India (with a few stops in between) and I had left our car for him to drive down to Waterton. Unfortunately when he flew in his bag wasn't there :( So he spent the night at my parents' house in Calgary and came down really early the next morning so he could be with us!
The most looked forward to activity was hiking up to Wall Lake!
The entirety of our family on my side. Goodness I love these people.
TJ was the go-to man for fishing. He cast out his line just to make sure the rod was working right and he caught a fish!! He had a lot of fun teaching the kids how to fish and helping everyone.
Get the fish, Hunter!
We also enjoyed ice cream/shaved ice from The Big Scoop almost every day. Even at 9 pm :)
Another day we hiked up to Crandell Lake
Love these cousins :) Blaine, Abby, Hunter
On the road back home we saw a bear! Can't be a trip to Waterton without a bear sighting. Can you see the black spot on the hill?? Dead center just beneath the small trees.
We rented surrey bikes one morning
Enjoyed some Canadian goodness :)
Red Rock Canyon is TJ's favorite place/thing to do in Waterton. The water is absolutely freezing cold (it's glacier water) and you can hike up the canyon to see some waterfalls. We've never been able to make it up to see the waterfalls before because of log jams etc. But this year we made it super close!! We turned back around because there was some pretty fresh bear scat.
Almost every evening was spent throwing rocks. These pictures are at Emerald Bay. I still can't believe how beautiful the weather was. Hardly any wind is a rare thing in Waterton, and we were lucky enough to have it! And just the right temperature. Amazing.
We also spent an afternoon at the splash pad and park!
Our last day was spent up at Cameron Lake. We rented canoes and pedal boats and had a blast! The far end of the lake is in the States. We didn't quite make it that far because Mr. Hunter was having a lot of fun trying to tip us over ;) Our canoe was TJ, Hunter, Anna, and me.
After boating we drove back to Calgary to spend a few days there. Until next time, Waterton!
