A couple weeks ago I got to go home for a week and a half and it was awesome. TJ was on the east coast doing some training for his new job, so I decided I didn't want to stick around here by myself and be bored, so I went home!
My first day there we went to Heritage Park! I went there all the time as a kid. So many memories. They've got a whole bunch of historical things there and it's so fun. They've got gasoline alley where there are old cars etc. (Grandpa's fave), there are also old shops, one room school houses, a delicious bakery, candy shop, old rides, old houses you can tour, and it's just a lot of fun to see a bit of history come to life.
Here are my cute grandparents just walkin' along. Love them.

My mom and I got there just in time to join my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins for lunch. Aunt Mel and her boys were there, and I had no idea, so it was so great to see them!! After lunch we went on the S.S. Moyie.

Me and Mom rockin' the wind-blown look on the boat

I mentioned there are old rides...and my grandma is cool enough to still ride them. She went on the carousel...

...and on the ferris wheel!

I don't know many 81 year olds that still do that!

My cousins, Adam and Jacob. They were thoroughly embarrassed at our screaming the entire time we were on the ride (that's how you have fun right?!) and were thrilled I was taking pictures :)

We had to go to the bakery and get gingerbread men. Best. Gingerbread men. Ever. Yum!

Last stops of the day were to the candy store and then the ice cream shop.

It was really fun getting to hang out with some of my mom's side of the family. And great to get to go to Heritage Park!
Mom had a lot of blueberries...so we made some yummy blueberry syrup!

And blueberry pies! So good that we finished it straight from the pie tin, even though we were stuffed from dinner (and a full piece of pie for dessert...) Aunt Lu, Aunt Lisa, Kira, and me.

Sometimes I forget things I love about Canada until I'm there. Things like:
Horizontal traffic lights (and the stampede flags on top!)

Sour soothers!! For those who don't know, in Canada most people call a pacifier/binky/etc. a soother. It just so happens that they make little candies like a little soother. I love 'em. They're similar to sour patch kids.

Other things, I miss and crave until I get home again. Like ketchup chips. Mmmm...

And timbits. They're doughnut holes from Tim Hortons. But they're the best doughnut holes.

And of course, CANADIAN SLURPEES!!!!!!!!! Had these on several occasions. It was so fun to have Josh home to go on slurpee runs with :)

When I came home, TJ still had about 5 days left to spend on the east coast. (we were apart for just over 2 weeks!! That was no fun.) When I got back he had left me cute little notes for each day until he got home, and he left me this one on the soap in the shower....

Such a sweet husband :) Makes me smile.
Oh I love Canada!! I'm so glad I got to go. Hopefully next time TJ will get to come with me. That would make it the best :)
