Spud

Yes, this picture means what you think it means... :)
We are going to have a BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!! In July. We are so ridiculously excited.
Our baby has lovingly been nicknamed "spud" for now :)  (get it? we live in idaho :))
I have been feeling really good overall, just really tired all the time.  I never threw up, though, so that was great!  I felt like it a few times, but was never really sick.  Blessings.  And now that I'm starting the second trimester, I've been getting some of my energy back.
We will find out if it's a boy or girl (or one of each, according to TJ) the beginning of March.  We'll keep you posted!
Did I mention we're EXCITED?! :)
Love, TJ, Krista, & lil spud

Canadian Culture

Continuing our Christmas in Canadia...
We did some fun "Canadian" things.  My dad scored all of us tickets to the World Junior Hockey Championships!!  We all got to go on different days, but we were lucky and got the same day as Brad and Angie :)  We got to see Slovakia vs. Switzerland, and it was a really fun game to watch!!  There is a feeling of happiness at the sound of skates on the ice, pucks being slapped around, bodies being slammed into the boards, etc. It was a blast.  Gotta love a good hockey game.  We had awesome seats!  Thanks, Dad!!
Blurry...but still cute :)
We also went 5 pin bowling!  There are very few places in Calgary that have 10 pin bowling.  I never went 10 pin bowling until I was in high school with my gym class.  5 pin bowling has a much smaller ball (you can see Anna and Kate with them in their hands) and there are only 5 pins to knock down, but they're worth a different amount of points.  It's a blast!
We also enjoyed some yummy Canadian snacks.  Ketchup chips and Cheezies, as well as dill pickle chips.  Yum!
Our favorite activity was going curling!!  We spent an afternoon at the curling rink, and could have spent longer.  It was so much fun.
In curling, you aim to get your rock closest to the "button", or the center circle in the target.  You get points for how many rocks you have in the circles, and you try and knock the other team's rocks out.  It's surprisingly really fun!
After you send/shoot the rock, you can sweep it to help speed it up.  We had great sweepers :)
Blaine's turn! :)  He loved 'throwing' the rocks.
We had some pretty cute score keepers :)

I think we may have found a new favorite family tradition.... :)
After spending so long in the curling rink we couldn't pass up going to Tim Horton's for hot chocolate and Timbits (an awesome assortment of the yummiest doughnut holes).
And that was our trip to Canada!  We had so much fun being with everyone, and can't wait until the next time!

Canadian Christmas

We got to spend 10 wonderful days in Canada this Christmas! We did so many fun things that I'm splitting our trip in to 2 posts :)
We drove up a couple days before Christmas, which meant we got to go to the Nativity Pageant! This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions. The Church puts on this pageant every year, and it is such a great reminder of what Christmas is all about.
All of us at the Nativity! Brad, Angie, Abby, Josh, Dad, Mom, Me, TJ.
Because we were there before Christmas we also got to help my mom finish some of her Christmas baking! Here we are dipping butter buds/butter crunchies. Yum!
We spent lots of time sitting by the tree.
It was Abby's first Christmas! Had to document it so everyone could know :)
Christmas day tradition is to go over to my Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner. It was so great to get to spend some time with them.
Another day we went swimming!! Indoors, of course ;) There is an indoor wavepool not too far from our house, and it's a blast. Big wavepool, slides, swinging balls to jump off of, diving board, hot tub, kiddie pool, etc. We had so much fun going down ALL the slides with our nieces :)
Mom, me, and Abby hangin out in the little kid pool.
The girls had really been wanting to see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, so we all went and saw it one day. Another night we even snuck away with just the adults (!!) and saw Mission Impossible 4. Thanks for babysitting, Angie!
We also got to go ice skating! It was so warm in Canada that the lake hadn't frozen over, so we couldn't go on the lake, but the little rink was still open for skating. Little Abby got all bundled up! Not much that's cuter than a little bundled up baby :)
Brad pulled her around in the sled for a while, and she seemed to like it!
When Blaine first got on the ice he said it was "a wittow swippewy" (a little slippery). So cute. TJ helped him 'skate' around for a while :)
Anna and Kate were pro skaters by themselves.
Me and my love :)
Saw this idea on Pinterest, and had to try it! We made Star Wars snowflakes one afternoon.
New Year's Eve they had some fireworks over at the lake by our house, so we went and watched them. Then we went back home and ate way too much junk and watched a movie :)
We absolutely loved just hangin' out with the family!! Here's TJ and Blaine. Too funny.
We LOVED Christmas in Canada!!
More Canadian goodness coming soon...
