The first week in May we went to San Diego and rented out a beach house with my entire family. It was the most wonderful vacation! Prepare for possible picture overload...haha. We got to do lots of fun things!
We went to the San Diego Zoo!! It's a really awesome zoo, and we were so lucky to see so many animals awake and doing things! There were rarely sleeping animals, I'm not sure how that happened (seems like the animals are always asleep when you go to the zoo!)
A major reason we went to the zoo was so my sister-in-law, Angie, could fulfill her life dream of seeing a panda in real life. We got to see this panda eat some bamboo and walk around for a while. Check that one off the bucket list!
We also saw lots of other fun animals, including giraffes. I think giraffes are pretty stinkin' cool! Those and tigers are probably my favorite at the zoo....but the tigers weren't out that day.
There was a sky ride that took you all the way across the zoo so you didn't have to walk (this zoo is HUGE) and it went much, much higher than any of us had anticipated, haha! Little Katie was a little freaked out (and maybe me) but was fine as long as she wasn't looking over the edges.
Zoo day was a definite success!
We went and walked around the San Diego temple grounds. Such a beautiful temple!
We also went to Sea World!! It was an absolute blast. TJ got to see his polar bear (his fave).
We also saw beluga whales (and many other animals)
We watched the Shamu show, and the dolphin show, and the sea lion show.
We had to see the sharks - Blaine's absolute favorite thing.
And you could feed the sea lions all day long! It was pretty cool.
Yay for Sea World!
We had so much fun just hangin out with everyone. We played a lot of Ladderball in the backyard.
As well as a lot of pool and Speed/Crud/Spaz (whatever you call it)
There was an awesome outdoor area in the front of the house with a firepit and bbq so we made good use of that :) lots of s'mores!
We got to see some beautiful sunsets.
One afternoon all us girls went and got mani pedis... :)
...while the boys picked up my dad from the airport and then headed to the beach for a little bit.
We went to a Padres game! We got awesome seats for a really great price. It was really fun to go to a major league game! I haven't been to one since I was a little kid.
And, of course, we spent lots of time at the beach :) All the boys went boogie boarding together. I didn't get any good shots of them, but this is them all going out to the waves!
Blaine stood on this boogie board and said "I surf" and it was pretty much adorable.
Later on he really wanted to go boogie boarding for real, so TJ took him out to some of the waves. Cutest thing ever. I wish I would have had a real camera so I could zoom in on this little boy's face. Pure joy :)
Lots of playing in the sand together, boogie boarding, relaxing, and just playing in the ocean. Ahhh to live on the beach!
I could have left TJ with a boogie board all day and he would have been content. He only stopped when both of his legs cramped up when trying to jump the waves to get out further...haha! Hardcore. He loves it.
The best part of this vacation was that I got to be with TJ all day every day for the entire time. Loved it!
Sadly all good things come to an end. This is just before we all parted ways to go home.
First vacation with the Hunter family = success! So excited to do it again in the future :)
