Calgary Trip: Part One

Our 'adventure' up to Canada was well worth it. We had such a great trip! So much that I will be doing more than one blog post on it.
At the border we got to use all American passports for the first time!
Hunter was such a trooper in his car seat for the long time he was in there. He thought it was hilarious to play his own little version of hide and seek by sticking these little ducks up his shorts and "finding" them again.
This was a beautiful sight to see!! We made it to Alberta!
Someone loved being at Grandma and Grandpa's house...
playing the piano
Canadian Slurpees. Need I say more?! Well, I will. These are one of the things that I most look forward to when I go to Canada. They are different than the American ones, and anyone who has tried Canadian slurpees will tell you they are so much better. We got slurpees as often as we could :)
and screamers!! A screamer is soft serve ice cream sandwiched between slurpee.
Hunter thought they were quite tasty :)
One highlight of our trip was the Luge! They built a luge track at Canada Olympic Park that just opened this summer, so it was the first time for all of us. It was a blast!
You ride the chair lift up to the top,
then you ride down on these go-kart-like things. You tilt the handle bars forward to go and pull back to slow down/stop. (Dad, TJ, me, Josh)
It's hard to get pictures of the track, but here are a couple so you can get the idea of what it's like.
Getting ready for the luge!
Hunter was too little to take him on the luge, but he still got to try on a helmet :)
Hunter has figured out that if he grabs a candy bar off the shelf at a store and smashes it, we buy it. (maybe he hasn't 'figured it out' but he has done it a couple times...) He picked a Rolo this time, and he was nice enough to share with his daddy, and the rest of us.
Another highlight was playing frisbee golf! There is a beautiful course at Baker Park that is just right on the Bow River.
The cutest little frisbee golfer I ever did see :)
We sure had a lot of fun playing! And we didn't even lose any frisbees!
After frisbee golf we were all roasting, so we got slurpees :)
We also drove around the Calgary temple! It is so beautiful, I can't wait to see the inside sometime!
The best days completely wear you out :) That was every day of our trip!
More Calgary fun coming soon!
